Inspect solar power systems

Solar Inspection and Certification

The Solar Inspection service is designed to provide homeowners and potential buyers with a assessment and certification of solar installations. Whether you're planning to buy a home that is equipped with existing solar technology and wanting to first verify it is operational, or looking to sell a commercial building and want to assure potential buyers the solar is as described, our 3rd party certificate will provide that verification and is suitable for most real-estate contract obligations.

What's included

This service is NOT a system valuation or equipment selection review, and does not support the side of the buyer or seller. This service is strictly unbiased and focuses solely on verifying these four key aspects of the system, without any opinions or judgments regarding the property. Our aim is to provide a clear, factual certifacte that supports the operational status of the solar system at the time of inspection.

The four aspects of this certification:

  1. The system was installed per industry standards
  2. The system control components are operational
  3. The system is generating the expected amount of energy
  4. There are no defects in the system preventing proper operation, or all defects were rectified

How it Works

Our technicians conduct non-destructive inspections that encompass a visual and operational examination of the solar photovoltaic system's accessible components. We assess whether the system was installed per industry standards, test the control equipment, and evaluate the energy production. If no defects are found we will issue a certificate verifying these findings. If any issues are identified, we will provide a proposal with recommendations to resolve any items before the certificate can be issued.

NOTE: This service does not evaluate past performance or online monitoring platforms. If past history annalysis, system valuation, or other proffessional opinions are desired, that service can be provided seperatly from this certification, which is meant only to evalute the system's current opertional status.

Scott replaced a 13 year old Fronius inverter with a Fronius Gen24 and did a fantastic job. Paragon obviously takes a lot of care and pride in their work. I recommend highly.

I first worked with Scott at Paragon Solar in the fall of 2018. My inverter had just died on a just shy of 10 year old solar array. He came out, diagnosed the problem, and recommended my new Fronius array. He went to the original inverter manufacturer (going out of business) and worked on getting some reimbursement for the remaining 2 months on the warranty. A couple of years later, it appeared as if half of my electric service went away. He and I did some diagnostics to try to determine the problem and realized it most likely was with the XCEL side. Absolutely right. Current problem, after the recent snow storm, I cleared snow off my panels (ground mount array) and noticed that the inverter had an error code displayed. Let's go back a couple of months: The inverter monitoring utilized an ethernet cable to get data to the web. Varmints in my yard had chewed through the cable multiple times and I had either patched or replaced the cable in the past. I made a decision that I didn't want to do that anymore so I stopped being able to monitor the inverter. Now I didn't know how long the inverter was failing. Looked online for the error code. Did what the video said to do. No good. I then went to Paragon's website (this Saturday morning) and put in a request for service. Scott responded within 10 minutes with a text message and a detailed email on what I could do. I called him back and he first helped me understand how to hook up monitoring through WiFi, rather than the Ethernet connection. Then he had me disconnect the old ethernet cable from the inverter in case there was a shorting situation affecting the inverter. At this time I had to stop working and go off to an appointment. Said I would try all steps on Sunday. Sunday, I hooked up the inverter via WiFi, powered off and restarted the inverter with no new results. Scott said that was a possibility and had suggested I should reload an updated set of firmware, which he sent to me. I downloaded the firmware update to a USB stick, followed his instructions, and within a couple of minutes I could see that the inverter was processing AC watts, which continued to grow through the afternoon. Scott's response to me this morning was that it was great that it all worked out, and that I had saved him a trip by doing all the steps he would have done. Thanks for reading through this lengthy review. I believe that Scott Carman and Paragon represent all that is (and should be) great examples of superior service to their customers and their communities! I highly recommend them!
